Back when my eldest was just a baby, and I was pregnant with my second, the 10 minutes I spent to paint my face in the morning helped ground me; makeup was one of my few remaining connections to my pre-baby self. But as much as I enjoy applying makeup, I loathe washing it off – yet I force myself to do it every single night. I was so exhausted at that time, I wanted my skincare routine to be as short as possible, so I would end up applying the Izil 100% Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil as a one-step skincare regime after washing my face. In my head it was either that or nothing. A while after, I was surprised that despite my laziness and my skin negligence, my face was looking the best it had in years! My face was brighter and my skin looked smooth and fresh. I did some research on prickly pear seed oil, and it turns out to be super beneficial to the skin!
In her scientifically-backed article Prickly Pear Seed Oil and the Skin, Jade Shutes from the New York Institute of Aromatic Studies gave a comprehensive overview of the results of studies available on prickly pear seed oil and reached this conclusion:
“With large amounts of linoleic acid, Vitamin E, phytosterols, and polyphenols, prickly pear seed oil stimulates healthy cell production and turnover, provides protection, and helps skin retain moisture. These components make the oil an extremely rich and skin-nourishing oil. It soothes, hydrates, and reduces inflammation that can damage collagen, and it can prevent skin aging and wrinkles.”
Little did I know that a product I was using 3 years ago out of laziness would be end up being my most valued discovery ever in skincare. When I’m not trying out new night-time skincare products, I always fall back on prickly pear seed oil. Years later though, I’ve mastered its application. I wash my face, mist it with a hydrosol and press in a pump of product, reveling in its scent and knowing that I will definitely wake up to gorgeous skin the next day. After buying the Izil prickly pear seed oil various times, I’m currently trying out the one from Glee Cosmetics and it’s just as magical.
This is so interesting! Iโm not a fan of using oils on my sli as it makes me break out so badly. Wonder if this oil will do the same?
