Blissoma is a cruelty-free and certified vegan botanical skincare brand. The founder, Julie, is a herbal chemist and all their products are made in-house with ethically sourced, organic and sustainable ingredients. I got introduced to the brand through their Photonic sunscreen and I immediately knew the brand was worth looking more into.
I had received samples of Aura Phyto Brightening Serum (then known as Amend Facial Solar Repair Serum) and the Fresh Mild Rice Cleanser so went ahead and ordered those, before later ordering Bright as well as Adapt Bio Balance Tonique, Smooth A+ Correcting Serum and Flawless Clear Condition Facial Oil, which are catered towards oily and acne prone skin like mine.
Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF 25 Broad Spectrum Facial Sunscreen + Moisturizer
DIscovered while on the hunt for clean sunscreens that double as moisturizers and save me time in the morning, Photonic has become my Holy Grail (HG) sunscreen. It is the most matte clean sunscreen I have tried and I know I can depend on it to stay put and not cause my makeup to melt away or my face to become an oily mess. More importantly, it does not feel heavy on the skin and does not clog up my pores. I actually started using it when it still had its old packaging and I have gone through countless bottles already.
Bright – Eye Vitalizing Nutrient Serum
It’s not usually easy to find a product that tackles both under-eye darkness and wrinkles at the same time, so finding one that does that and is clean was a big discovery to say the least. Let’s start with what Bright is not – it is not greasy or heavy and it does not make concealer crease or eyeliner/mascara to slide. I use it day and night and have noticed that my under eye area is smoother, firmer and yes, definitely brighter.
Aura – Phyto Brightening Serum
Aura helps counter the effects of sun exposure, such as hyper pigmentation and fine lines. It is rich with phyto-nutrients, Coenzyme Q10 and antioxidants like pomegranate extract, an effective and stable form of Vitamin C and fermented Wasabi extract.
I have olive skin and I get tanned easily, which means I can just as easily develop hyper pigmentation if I don’t diligently apply sunscreen, or if I pick at a pimple. I do suffer from occasional hormonal acne and Aura has been crucial in minimizing any subsequent darkness and scarring.
I have been using it for over a year and I can attest to it’s brightening claims. My face tone has been the most uniform I have seen it. It absorbs easily into the skin and feels light on the face. Most of all, it does not break me out. I tend to use it daily in the morning before my sunscreen, and prior to any sun exposure.
Like all Blissoma products, Adapt is made with stellar phyto-ingredients, but I will not pretend to be able to discern the effectiveness of this or any other toner. A toner is a product sandwiched between others so, in my opinion, it is very difficult to isolate its benefits. But I still use one every morning and night – it provides my skin with the hydration it needs and acts as a vehicle to transport ingredients from subsequent products inside the skin.
With ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin A, Smooth A+ Correcting Serum is a godsend for congested or acne-prone skin. It miraculously rids the face of spots and uneven texture in a very short time. I now have fewer and less severe cystic breakouts (usually around my jawline) and pimples are healed faster and hardly leave a trace. I have nothing but love for it, it is definitely HG material.
Flawless – Clear Condition Facial Oil
People with oily and acne-prone usually shy away from oils, but I find them the best to cleanse and balance skin. Granted, not all oils are made equal and Flawless has to be the best I have tried when it comes to keeping skin clear. It is really a miracle in a bottle and yes, HG material too. When my skin is acting up, I like to use it alone or layer it over Smooth A+ Correcting Serum. It absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave residues. I always wake up to balanced skin and less inflamed or totally healed blemishes.
Lavender Natural Deodorant Aromatic Spray
The Lavender Natural Deodorant Aromatic Spray is the only Blissoma product that I have not purchased myself – I received it in lieu of a review. I love the lavender scent and I love that it is in spray form. I have to say it was a very welcomed change from the jar deodorants that I currently use. It is more wet than a conventional spray deodorant so it needs a couple of minutes to dry down. On the plus side, it does not stain clothes or sting my skin. I do find that I have to reapply midday just to make sure I stay smelling fresh.
Now that I have shared what I love from Blissoma, the only product that I will not be repurchasing is the Fresh – Mild Rice Cleanser. It is a mild cleanser that is well-suited for sensitive skin, but I feel like it is too moisturizing for my skin type.
As is evident from my review, I consider Photonic, Smooth A+ Correcting Serum and Flawless to be “HG material”, which is a term I do not use lightly. In fact, only a handful of products that I have used over the years can be classified as such. I cannot praise Blissoma enough; it has become the brand I fall back on when I am not testing out others. It is so rare to find a brand with products that are so well-formulated and are on par with their marketing claims, let alone a clean one whose products rival the efficacy of conventional ones.
